Accessibility Statement

Dalswinton House is a late Victorian farmhouse which was converted in the 1970’s. Our ability to offer facilities for all is unfortunately hampered by the physical constraints of a building of this size and age.
On Arrival at Dalswinton

Our Car Park is at the front of the Hotel accessed from our private drive.

The Car Park is flat and level

Entrance to the house is via doors at the end of the conservatory where assistance can be provided if required.

Our ground floor room has its own parking bay to the side of the house

We do not offer a porter service

If arriving by train or plane we can order a taxi for guests with advance notice
Checking In

Once inside the house there is access to the office/reception on the ground floor with no steps or ramps

There is no reception desk. All arriving guests are greeted by the owners in the car park or the conservatory

We do not have a hearing loop

The service bell outside the office should be reachable by those guests in a wheelchair
The Ground Floor

Most of the ground floor is on one level, including the bar, conservatory, lounge and dining room.

The ground floor bedroom has access from the public lounge.

The bar may be too high for those in a wheel chair, if this is the case service where you wish to sit will be offered

All public rooms on the ground floor are well lit with good colour contrast

The ground floor toilet facilities have a step up and are not suitable for wheelchair users.
Bedrooms/Garden Lodge

There is no lift at Dalswinton

A banister runs all the way up the stairs to the first floor on the left hand side

Corridors and stairs are well lit

7 bedrooms are on the first floor, but all have level access from the corridor

Bedroom lighting is of different light levels

Non-feather or synthetic pillows are available on request

A raised toilet seat is available upon request

The fire alarm is audio only however systems have been put in place to ensure the safe exit of all guests in the case of an emergency. If you have any concerns on this issue we will be pleased to talk to you about these procedures.

There is a ground floor bedroom with direct external access as well as access from the lounge

This bedroom has a number of facilities to aid the disabled but is not large enough for free wheelchair movement

Access to the garden Lodge is not suitable for wheelchair users
The Dining Room

Most diets can be catered for by prior arrangement (except Vegans)

A table near the door in the dining room can be arranged for easy access with notice at time of booking

Chairs are non fixed in the dining room

Chairs with arms are available in the dining room on request.

A large print menu is available on request or can be read to you.

There is normally a member of staff available to assist those with hearing or sight difficulties
The Outdoor Pool Area

Access to the pool terrace is via gated steps and a gated slope. The slope is steep and the gates may be difficult to open for wheelchair users.

The pool which has a steep depth change from 3ft to 6ft is not recommended for the disabled unless they are accompanied by an able bodied guest, the pool is served by a set of standard plastic and metal steps.

There are no steps within the pool itself.
The Gardens and Grounds

The nature of our geography is such that the grounds are on a steep slope. Whilst there are paths these are uneven and there are a number of steps within the gardens. The orchard is grassed but the ground is uneven and not on a level.

Access to the meadow is via a set of railway sleeper steps which are steep and can be slippery in the wet. The meadow, by definition is uneven and the mown paths are not always suitable for guests with walking difficulties
